Commercial water damage restoration using advanced drying equipment and tecniques

SERVPRO of Southwest Brooklyn Mitigation Equipment

SERVPRO was mitigating a water damage loss that required a range of advanced technology equipment including air movers, negative air machines and dehumidifiers.

Dehumidifiers work by extracting water vapor from the air and lower the relative humidity, which in turn increases rate of evaporation. In a water damaged structure, dehumidifiers pull in the moist, humid air and then discharge dry, warm air. The dry air acts like a sponge absorbing moisture from wet materials.

Why Does SERVPRO cut out damaged drywall

Flood cuts are a common part of the restoration process when drywall has been badly damaged by water. When an IICRC certified water restoration contractor cuts out portions of damaged drywall to avoid continued damage to the structure it’s called a flood cut. Depending on the type of water, length of damage and amount of water different methods of flood cutting can take place. Typically, the cut is made 12-18 inches above where the flood damage stopped, so that the damaged drywall can be discarded and address additional “hidden moisture” concerns can be addressed.
